Abdulwahab Yusuf, a 23-year-old resident of Tukuntawa Quarters in Kano, was presented before a Sharia Court on Tuesday, accused of purloining cow skin (ponmo) valued at N8,500.
The defendant, who pleaded guilty, faced charges of theft during the proceedings presided over by Judge Umar Lawal-Abubakar.
The judge ruled for Yusuf’s remand in a correctional facility and scheduled a summary trial for August 22.
Inspector Abdullahi Wada, the Prosecution Counsel, revealed that the complainant, Fatihu Auwal, also a resident of Tukuntawa Quarters, reported the incident at Fagge Police Station on August 5.
According to Wada, the defendant allegedly pilfered the cow skin from the complainant’s stall.
