Nigerian music industry lacks proper structure – Fireboy

Singer Adedamola Adefolahan, popularly known as Fireboy DML, has shed light on why Nigerian artists often avoid touring the country despite achieving global success in selling out arenas worldwide.

In a recent interview with Cool FM Nigeria in Lagos, hosted by Kayode Oladotun (Do2dtun), Fireboy expressed his belief that Nigerian music is exceptional but pointed out the lack of structure as a significant obstacle to hosting tours within the country.

The artist remarked, “Everyone is saying ‘Afrobeats to the world.’ The music is perfect. But there is no structure.

They [foreign fans] are listening to our music, but when will they come to Lagos to watch us perform? When will we have arenas in Lagos where we can attract audiences from around the world? You know, it [structure] will make everything just easier.”

When asked about the affordability of arena shows for Nigerian fans, Fireboy responded optimistically, saying, “Yeah, they will. We already are.
