Scholar urges Atiku and Obi – “Don’t waste resources challenging Tinubu’s victory”

On Saturday, Prof Isaac Albert offered advice to the leading opposition parties in the country, urging them to discontinue any further challenges to the outcome of the February 25th presidential election.

He emphasized that this would be a more prudent course of action and would help avoid additional resource wastage in pursuing the matter at the Supreme Court.

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) recently upheld the result of the election, which saw President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerge as the winner.

Tinubu secured victory over Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), who came in second and third place, respectively.

Prof. Albert, an expert in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Ibadan, argued that based on the judges’ analyses, the opposition parties were soundly defeated, failing to provide compelling evidence to support their claims.

He also pointed out that the tribunal’s comprehensive constitutional explanations had put to rest the argument that a specific number of votes in the FCT could significantly influence a contestant’s victory or defeat.
