A former manager at Amazon.com has been handed a 16-year prison sentence for stealing more than $9.4 million from the company during her employment.
Kayricka Wortham, who worked as an operations manager in Georgia from August 2020 to March 2022, orchestrated the scheme along with six others.
Wortham, leveraging her role and access, created fake vendors and approved their invoices, resulting in over $10 million being fraudulently invoiced.
The funds were then transferred to bank accounts controlled by Wortham and her co-conspirators.
Wortham pleaded guilty to the charges of fraud and will also face three years of supervised release, along with a restitution payment of $9,469,731.45 to Amazon.
Additional charges have been filed against Wortham and her partner for defrauding another company.
The other individuals involved have also faced legal consequences for their roles in the theft.
