The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has decided to suspend its scheduled strike in response to the increase in fuel prices resulting from the removal of subsidies.
Following a meeting between the Nigerian government delegation and NLC leadership at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, agreements were reached, leading to the suspension of the strike.
Both parties agreed to engage in further consultations, with plans to meet on June 19 to establish an implementation framework.

The NLC, led by President Comrade Joe Ajaero, arrived at the Presidential Villa on Monday.
The government team included notable individuals such as former Edo State governor Adams Oshiomhole, NNPCL Group Chief Executive Officer Mele Kyari, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, Hon. James Faleke, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Kachollom Daju.
The strike was initially announced by the NLC’s National Executive Council in response to the removal of fuel subsidies and subsequent rise in petrol prices.
