Death sentence by hanging for pastor convicted of killing choir mistress and others

A pastor, Chidiebere Okoroafor, has been sentenced to death by hanging by the High Court in Port Harcourt for the murder of his choir mistress, Orlunma Nwagba, whom he allegedly impregnated.

The General Overseer of the Altar of Solution and Healing Assembly in Oyigbo, Rivers State, also faced murder charges for the killings of Nwagba’s friend, Chigozie Ezenwa, and her eleven-month-old daughter, Cresabel.

The trial judge, S.O. Benson, concluded that the evidence and confessional statements from the pastor proved his guilt.

The court ordered his execution by hanging or lethal injection.

The incident occurred in December 2017 when the women visited the pastor’s house for a discussion about the pregnancy and were deceived into accompanying him to separate locations where the crimes were committed.

The prosecution expressed satisfaction with the verdict, while the defense announced plans to appeal the judgment.
