500 unbanked women in the Dutse/Bwari Area Council in Abuja have been empowered through a reach-out programme known as the “Market Women Support Fund Initiative” by the Strategic Outreach Support, a tax-exempt organisation in collaboration with Zenith Bank. The programme provides funding to market and local women traders to enhance the ease of doing business.
The project, which is ongoing and expected to extend to every local government area of the country, was flagged off with an account registration exercise facilitated by Zenith Bank, and over 500 unbanked women had new accounts opened and were credited with N10,000 each.
A statement made available on Friday revealed that the programme will be extended to the five area councils in Abuja before reaching other parts of the country.

A seminar is also scheduled for May 19, 2023, to encourage funding for market women and promote small/medium-scale enterprise trading, thereby cushioning the adverse effects of global economic challenges.
The seminar, which is titled “Influencing Global Policy Implementation for Sustainable Development,” seeks to promote the establishment of funding to support the growth of market women and traders.
