AGS NEWS – Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, criticized the recent fuel price hike, calling it “unfortunate and insensitive.” In a post on X.com, Obi highlighted the negative impact of the increase on Nigeria’s economy and citizens.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) raised petrol prices from N897 to N1,030 per litre at stations in Abuja, marking a 14.8% rise, the second increase in a month.

Obi urged President Bola Tinubu and Petroleum Minister Heineken Lokpobiri to reverse the hike, stressing the need for better governance and economic policies.
This price surge has caused transportation costs to soar, prompting backlash from the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria.
