Lagos govt threatens closure of Indian school who admits just Indians

This development follows the recent closure of a Chinese supermarket in Abuja for refusing to serve Nigerian customers.

Speaking at the Ministerial Briefing marking the first anniversary of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second term, the State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, stated that the government is investigating the matter and will take appropriate action if the school is found guilty.

Alli-Balogun emphasized that denying admission to any child goes against the Child Rights Act, which the Lagos State Government has adopted.

He further disclosed that 12 private schools have been shut down in the state since 2023 for various violations, including safety infractions and illegal operations.
