AGS NEWS – The National Working Committee of the Labour Party has escalated the ongoing turmoil within its leadership by imposing a six-month suspension on its National Treasurer, Oluchi Opara.
The suspension was formally declared during a media briefing held at the party headquarters in Abuja.
Opara had previously confronted the LP National Chairman, Julius Abure, questioning the whereabouts of an alleged N3.5 billion generated from the sale of nomination forms and fundraising endeavors for the 2023 general elections.

She reiterated her concerns during an appearance on Arise TV’s “Good Morning Show,” accusing the Abure-led NWC of colluding with the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State.
Responding to Opara’s allegations, the LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, labeled her a saboteur manipulated by dissenting factions within the party.
Ifoh stated that Opara’s suspension came after she declined an invitation to address the party’s NWC regarding the conflict.
In a statement, Ifoh explained, “Following the 2023 general elections, the Labour Party faced significant opposition for challenging the political establishment.
It became evident that our National Treasurer, Ms. Oluchi Opara, was collaborating with expelled party members, posing a threat to the party’s integrity.”
He continued, “After convening an emergency NWC meeting on February 13, a disciplinary committee was formed to address Opara’s actions.
