Tragedy struck the community of Koro in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on Thursday night, February 2, as unidentified gunmen brazenly attacked the palace of the Olukoro of Koro.
The traditional ruler, retired General Segun Aremu, lost his life in the incident.
In a grim turn of events, the Kwara State government has confirmed the demise of the monarch and the abduction of three individuals, including his wife.
The chief press secretary to the governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, issued a statement conveying Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s condemnation of the heinous act.
Governor AbdulRazaq expressed shock and dismay at the reckless and abominable attack, directing security agencies to deploy all necessary resources to apprehend the perpetrators swiftly.

The governor emphasized the urgency of freeing the abducted individuals and ensuring justice is served.
In the governor’s words, “We will certainly apprehend the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity. My profound condolences go to the people of Koro.
Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always.” The community now mourns the loss of its respected traditional ruler, as efforts are underway to bring those responsible to justice.
