The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has disclosed the financial rewards for participating nations in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
The champion of AFCON 2023 stands to gain $7 million for lifting the trophy, while the runners-up will receive $4 million. The two teams that exit in the semifinals will each pocket $2.5 million.
Moving down the ranks, the four teams eliminated in the quarterfinals will each get $1.3 million, and the eight teams knocked out in the round of 16 will receive $800,000 each.

Two teams finishing third in their group but failing to advance will be awarded $700,000 each. The six teams that finished last in their groups will each receive $500,000.
As the quarterfinals stage begins, eight teams are set to compete, with Nigeria facing Angola at the Felix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan today as they aim for their fourth Africa Cup of Nations title, last achieved in 2013.
