Authorities in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, have taken action against suspected thieves and vandals involved in stealing billboards and signage.
Imam Ismail Asukuti, the Acting Director-General of the Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASSA), disclosed these arrests in Ilorin on Friday.
He issued a stern warning against the theft of signboards, billboards, and other signage properties, urging the general public to refrain from such acts that harm both government and private individuals’ assets in the state.
Asukuti emphasized that the agency would not hesitate to take action against anyone engaged in activities that could tarnish its reputation in the signage industry.

He stressed that advertising practitioners would be hesitant to invest in a state where billboards are stolen and removed by individuals involved in criminal activities.
In his statement, Asukuti declared, “Let me tell you, the agency would not allow or tolerate some miscreants in society stealing people’s properties in the state.”
He warned that anyone caught engaging in such activities would face appropriate legal consequences.
