The Lagos State Government has disbanded its Park and Garages Committee, allowing the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to oversee operations at motor parks and garages in the state.
This move follows the recent lifting of the indefinite suspension imposed on NURTW by the state government due to internal leadership disputes within the union.
The decision to dissolve the LASPG committee was authorized by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who instructed the Ministry of Transportation to carry out the dissolution and facilitate NURTW’s return to park and garage management.

The Transport Permanent Secretary commended the outgoing LASPG committee for their interim leadership and called on the union to maintain peace and adhere to their constitution during the transition back to NURTW control.
Najeem Yasin, Former National President of the Union and Chairman Transition Committee, expressed appreciation for the state government’s efforts in resolving the matter.
The formal reintroduction of the Lagos State Parks and Garages into the NURTW was conducted at the union’s Lagos headquarters.
