Ekiti police arrests 10 suspects in connection with FUOYE student’s murder

The Ekiti State Police Command has apprehended ten individuals in connection with the murder of Atanda Modupe Deborah, a 200-level nursing student at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE).

Deborah was reported missing on September 5, 2023, within the campus and was tragically discovered dead in a shallow grave located approximately 30 meters behind the Nursing lecture hall the following day.

DSP Abutu Sunday, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed these developments in a statement issued on September 7.

The arrested suspects are presently in custody, where they are undergoing a thorough investigation.

The State Commissioner of Police has ordered a discreet inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Deborah’s death.

The statement from the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) read, “The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP OGUNDARE DARE, has ordered a thorough investigation into the cause of the death of one ATANDA MODUPE DEBORAH, a 200-level nursing student of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), who was declared missing within the school premises on 5/09/2023 but found dead in a shallow grave at a distance of about 30 meters behind the nursing Lecture Hall.”

While urging the public to remain calm, the Commissioner emphasized that the police would spare no effort in identifying and bringing the perpetrator(s) to justice.

The statement also encouraged anyone with pertinent information regarding the incident to contact the authorities or visit specific police locations, and it disclosed that the deceased’s body had been placed in the morgue for autopsy.
