In an incident occurring on Tuesday afternoon, an adult of undisclosed identity plunged into the lagoon near the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge area in Lagos State.

Emergency responders have been engaged in ongoing efforts to retrieve the individual from the water. The police have cordoned off the area to facilitate the operation.

The State Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, verified the occurrence, indicating the presence of marine police and Lagos State emergency officials at the scene.

Their joint efforts are focused on extracting the person from the water, whether alive or deceased.

Amodu Shakiru, representing Adeseye Margaret, Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the event.

Responding to a distress call around 2:43 pm, the fire and rescue team promptly arrived at the location. However, as of now, no further updates have been provided regarding the situation.
