Tonye Cole, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the March 18 gubernatorial election in Rivers State, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over alleged refusal to grant him access to Certified True Copies (CTC) documents that would enable him to file his petition at the election tribunal.
Speaking on the Arise Television’s Morning Show program, Cole condemned the impunity level demonstrated by INEC, stating that the agency had disregarded several court orders to release the documents to him.

Cole explained that the documents were rightfully theirs and that PDP for the first time in Nigeria’s history, mounted a blockade of INEC’s office to prevent them from accessing them.
He further noted that the electoral law provides INEC with a 14-day timeline to provide the documents and failure to do so could result in 20 months imprisonment for contravening that law.

Cole said they obtained a court order from the electoral tribunal, which compelled INEC to release the documents, but the order has been ignored. He emphasized that the level of impunity by INEC cannot be allowed to stand and that Nigerians must continue to fight for what is right and just.
