Hauwa Maltha, one of the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls who was recently rescued by the Nigerian Army, has spoken about her experiences during her nine years in captivity with Boko Haram.
Maltha revealed that she was forced to marry three different Boko Haram members, with the marriages arranged by the late leader of the terrorist group, Abubakar Shekau.
She stated that her first husband disappeared and Shekau declared the marriage over.
She then married another fighter at a village, who died in a clash between Shekau’s soldiers. Maltha eventually married Mallam Muhammad, with whom she had two children who later died of sickness. Muhammad was also killed in a clash between Boko Haram and the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Sambisa forest.
Maltha was around eight months pregnant when she was rescued and gave birth to a baby boy on April 28, 2023, while undergoing medical examinations.

The two girls, along with their babies, have undergone thorough medical examination and will be handed over to the Borno State government for further administration.
