16-year-old boy arrested for killing father during a physical fight between his mother and father, says the Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The Commissioner of Police (CP) in the FCT, Mr Haruna Garba, stated this at a media briefing in Abuja on Friday.
According to him, the suspect sided with his mother during the fight and hit his father’s head with a mortar pestle, which led to his father’s death. The CP disclosed that the suspect would be arraigned in a juvenile court after the conclusion of investigations.
Meanwhile, the command’s anti-kidnapping outfit rescued 14 people, including the Village Head of Chida in Kwali Area Council, who were abducted on April 7.

Garba revealed that 10 of the victims who showed mild symptoms of illnesses received treatment at the Abaji General Hospital and were discharged to their families, while eight others who were kidnapped from Lapai and Tunga Mallam villages in Niger on April 13 were rescued by the team.
The CP assured residents of the command’s commitment to sustain the ongoing battle against bandits in the FCT and urged them to support the police in securing the territory and ensuring that people carry out their lawful businesses without hindrance.
He appealed to the citizens to assist security agencies by providing credible information that could defeat crime or by participating directly in activities that could mitigate crime and criminality.
