Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, adjourned further proceedings in the trial of music promoter and former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu ThankGod, popularly known as Eezee Tee, to September 26, 2025.
ThankGod and his company, Eezee Global Concepts Limited, are facing a seven-count amended charge brought against them by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The charges involve alleged foreign exchange violations and money laundering amounting to several hundred thousand dollars.
The matter was initially brought before Justice Owoeye but was later reassigned to Justice Aneke for continuation.

One of the counts alleges that ThankGod, who is not a licensed foreign exchange dealer authorised by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), engaged in a foreign currency transaction with an individual—an act considered a violation of the Foreign Exchange Monitoring and Miscellaneous (Provisions) Act.
At Friday’s proceedings, the EFCC, represented by prosecuting counsel Bilkisu Buhari-Bala, called its first witness, Mohammed Timta.
However, defence counsel Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, informed the court that both parties were nearing a potential out-of-court settlement and requested more time to finalise negotiations. He noted that if the discussions break down, the defence is prepared to proceed with full trial.
In response, Justice Aneke granted the request and adjourned the matter to September 26, 2025, for further hearing.
