Big Brother Naija star and billionaire heir, Kiddwaya, has come under heavy criticism after launching a donation campaign to support victims of the recent massacre in Yelwata, Benue State.
According to AGS NEWS, the reality TV star appealed to Nigerians on Wednesday via social media platform X (formerly Twitter), asking for donations ranging from ₦500 to ₦500,000 through his non-profit, the Kiddwaya Foundation.
“At the Kiddwaya Foundation, we’re mobilizing resources to provide food, shelter, and essential support to those affected. But we can’t do it alone; we need your help,” he wrote.
However, his call for support was met with outrage, as many Nigerians questioned why someone known for flaunting a luxurious lifestyle would turn to the public for aid.
Following the backlash, Kiddwaya deleted the post from his page.

The criticism comes in the wake of a tragic attack that left over 200 people dead after suspected herdsmen attacked the Yelwata community, burning many victims alive.
Social media users didn’t hold back their reactions:
- @_itsoyin: “Kiddwaya trying to scam Nigerians is what I never expected to see. Nigerians are going through it.”
- @ArakunrinSugar: “A man with enough cash to light cigars with hundred-dollar bills has suddenly discovered the power of community fundraising. Only in Nigeria.”
- @Ndubuisi_23: “When it’s time to show wealth, Kiddwaya is everywhere. But when it’s time to help, he’s asking for ₦500 donations.”
- @AndyjnrUmaru: “Billionaire pikin dey ask for donation for Benue with all the lavish lifestyle. E still get plenty things wey we never understand.”
The incident has reignited debates about celebrity responsibility, privilege, and the ethics of public fundraising in Nigeria.
