AGS NEWS – Former Senior Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Public Affairs, Aliyu Audu, has publicly declared his resignation from the administration, stating his intention to actively oppose Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, Audu said his decision was rooted in personal conviction, moral clarity, and a commitment to a more inclusive Nigeria.
“It’s a matter of principle and living for something greater than oneself,” he said. “Even if the future is uncertain, I would rather face an uncertain future than be certain about an immoral today.”
Audu, who once served as a key public face of the administration, criticised the current government for allegedly derailing from its campaign promises, accusing it of placing political revenge above national unity.
He cited the alliance between President Tinubu and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as a pragmatic move during the 2023 election cycle that has since lost its purpose.

“There was a justifying reason behind that alliance at the time,” Audu said. “But now, we’re seeing a shift from the values we stood for. It seems our victory is being used for personal retribution instead of national progress.”
He also drew historical parallels, referencing former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s political dominance in the Southwest, suggesting that Tinubu—who once resisted Obasanjo’s overreach—is now replicating similar political tactics.
“When our leading figure prioritises revenge over collective progress, then something has gone wrong. We fought so hard to win, believing we were choosing a unifier. But the direction of this government shows otherwise,” Audu stated.
When asked if President Tinubu’s recent comments about establishing a one-party state influenced his resignation, Audu affirmed that the remarks reinforced his decision.
“It confirmed it on one hand and strengthened my resolve on the other. I couldn’t remain in his government while plotting his removal. Because I will,” he said.
Audu concluded with a bold political declaration: “By God, we will remove President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. We will reinstall a leader chosen by the people, not imposed. It won’t be Emi lo kan—it will be Gbogbo wa lo kan.”
His comments are expected to stir political debate as the 2027 election cycle begins to take shape, raising questions about internal fractures within the ruling All Progressives Congress and the broader implications for the presidency.
