Trump Says U.S. May Get Involved in Israel-Iran Conflict

AGS NEWS – U.S. President Donald Trump has said the United States could become involved in the growing conflict between Israel and Iran, following days of escalating military strikes between the two countries.

Speaking in an off-camera interview with ABC News correspondent Rachel Scott, Trump said, “It’s possible we could get involved,” referring to the ongoing confrontation in the Middle East. The interview, which had not been previously publicised, aired on Sunday.

The Republican leader also revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin had reached out to him and offered to mediate the conflict. “He is ready. He called me about it. We had a long talk,” Trump said.

Tensions between Israel and Iran reached new heights early Sunday after Iran launched a wave of missile attacks on Israeli cities, including Bat Yam and Tamra, in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear, military, and oil infrastructure.

The attacks have resulted in significant casualties. In Tamra, four people, including a child, were confirmed dead. In Bat Yam, rescue workers are still combing through rubble for survivors.

The current exchange marks the third consecutive day of aerial attacks between the long-standing adversaries, stoking fears of a broader regional war.

Trump also addressed ongoing nuclear talks between the U.S. and Iran. Although a planned sixth round of negotiations in Oman was cancelled, he confirmed that diplomatic communication is still ongoing.

“There’s no deadline,” he said, adding, “They’d like to make a deal. They’re talking. They continue to talk.”

The president hinted that the current violence may be speeding up the push for an agreement on Iran’s nuclear programme. “It may have forced a deal to go quicker, actually,” he said.

The conflict continues to draw international concern, as calls mount for de-escalation and a return to diplomacy.
