AGS NEWS – The Lagos State Government has arrested five people for illegal waste dumping in the Ajasa Command area of the state.
The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced this in a post on X.com on Sunday.
He said officials from the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) carried out a 15-hour operation from 6:00 PM on Friday to 8:00 AM on Saturday, June 14, 2025, to clear a major blackspot used for illegal dumping.
“As a result of this initiative, five individuals were apprehended, and all identified blackspots were substantially minimised,” Wahab wrote.
The arrested individuals are Abidemi Aworinde, Ijoko Margaret, Mrs. Osayande, Faith Okoro, and Latifah Alabi. They have been taken to the CM LAGESC office and will remain there until Monday for further legal action.
The state government says it will continue its efforts to keep Lagos clean and stop illegal dumping across the city.
