AGS NEWS – Chevron Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation, has discovered a new oil field capable of producing 17,000 barrels of oil per day.

The discovery was made by the Meji NW-1 spud in Petroleum Mining Lease 49, located in the shallow offshore area of the Western Niger Delta.

This discovery comes as international oil companies are shifting their investments from onshore to offshore. Chevron aims to boost oil production and extend the life of its existing assets.

The new field is expected to help reverse Nigeria’s recent oil production declines and benefit local communities through job creation and revenue generation.
