A 30-year-old man, Motunrayo Olaniyi, allegedly stabbed his wife, Olajumoke, to death following a heated argument at their home in Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The tragic incident occurred on Friday, according to a statement by Lagos State Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin.

During the altercation, Motunrayo reportedly stabbed his 25-year-old wife multiple times, locked her in their room, and set it on fire.

He also inflicted wounds on himself after the attack. Police officers responded to a distress call, extinguished the fire, and found Olajumoke’s lifeless body with stab wounds.

Motunrayo was treated for his injuries at a hospital and later taken into police custody. The body of Olajumoke has been moved to the Ikorodu General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

The police have launched an investigation into the case.
