AGS NEWS – Ghana’s Black Stars may host their remaining 2025 Africa Cup of Nations home qualifiers in Nigeria after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) rejected their home venue, the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
CAF’s inspection team found the stadium unsuitable due to structural issues such as poor drainage and uneven playing surfaces.
With other Ghanaian stadiums like Cape Coast and Accra Sports Stadiums also failing to meet CAF’s standards, Ghana needs to find an alternative venue for their October qualifiers.

The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria, is currently the leading option due to its proximity and capacity of 30,000.
Other potential venues include Côte d’Ivoire’s Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny and Stade de la Paix, Cameroon’s Japoma Stadium, and Morocco’s Berkane Municipal Stadium.
The Ghana Football Association is expected to announce its final choice soon.
