Abure lied, didn’t remit ‘N1,000 challenge’ donations – Aisha Yesufu

AGS NEWS – The Obi-Datti fundraising team has denied the claim made by Labour Party National Chairman Julius Abure that only Aisha Yesufu and Pastor Itua Ighodalo managed the campaign funds for LP presidential candidate Peter Obi in the 2023 election.

Abure had stated that he was not involved in handling the campaign funds and that accusations of embezzlement were false.

In response, Yesufu, who led the fundraising team, labeled Abure’s statement as a lie.

She challenged Abure to explain the use of funds from the ‘Labour Party N1,000 Challenge’ and criticized his claim that only Yesufu and Ighodalo were responsible for the funds.

Yesufu also emphasized that there were three signatories to the campaign accounts, not two as Abure claimed, and pointed out that the Labour Party has yet to account for the donations received or funds used for procuring forms.

The controversy comes six months after Yesufu reported that the fundraising team collected N596 million from supporters and that Obi spent N744.5 million on litigation following his election loss.
