AGS NEWS – The Presidency announced on Saturday that it has received a memo from Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Spokesman, requesting an indefinite leave of absence due to personal and health reasons.
This was disclosed in a statement shared on the official X handles of the Presidency and Nigerian Television Authority.
Unlike previous statements, it was unsigned and attributed only to “The Presidency.” The statement revealed that Ngelale, who also serves as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, stepped down for personal and health-related reasons.

President Bola Tinubu extended his prayers for Ngelale’s recovery and praised his dedicated service, especially in areas like climate action.
The Presidency requested privacy for Ngelale and his family during this period.
Ngelale, appointed Tinubu’s spokesman in July 2023, became Nigeria’s first Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action in May 2024.
