AGS NEWS – The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced a seven-day warning strike starting at midnight on Monday, August 26, 2024, in protest of the kidnapping of their colleague, Dr. Ganiyat Popoola.

Dr. Popoola, a registrar at the National Eye Centre in Kaduna, was abducted in December 2023, along with her husband and nephew. Although her husband was released in March, Dr. Popoola and her nephew are still being held captive.

NARD President, Dr. Dele Abdullahi, confirmed the strike following an Emergency National Executive Council meeting, stating that the strike will be total, with no concessions or emergency care provided during the period.
