Police rescue man who attempted suicide over N1.2m debt

AGS NEWS – The police in Anambra State have arrested a 27-year-old man named Alozie John who attempted suicide due to a N1.2 million debt.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, Alozie, who is originally from Isielu LGA in Ebonyi State but resides in Umunnachi, Dunukofia LGA, was rescued after the police received information that he had consumed a poisonous substance in an attempt to end his life over a N1.2 million debt owed to his livestock supplier.

Alozie confessed that he sells live chickens and decided to take the harmful chemical because of his financial troubles, but did not experience the intended effect.

Ikenga added that the man’s mother has been contacted and is now assisting the police in arranging for his transfer to a better facility for proper care and evaluation.
