AGS NEWS – Heavy rainfall that began Thursday night and lasted until Friday afternoon caused the collapse of a bridge in Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The bridge, which connected the villages of Mayalo, Sambawa, Gumbin-Kure, Uguwar Shuaibu, and Gandiji, collapsed due to the continuous downpour, disrupting transportation, economic activities, social interactions, and access to essential services for the affected communities.

A local government official confirmed that emergency rescue operations have started, with efforts underway to evacuate stranded residents and assess the damage.

The affected communities have urged the government to swiftly repair and reconstruct the bridge to restore normalcy.
