AGS NEWS – The Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Area Command, has intercepted 12 containers filled with expired and controlled pharmaceutical products valued at N1.8 billion.
Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, revealed this on Thursday during a display of the seized items in Apapa, Lagos.
Adeniyi explained that the seized drugs, which included tramadol and other controlled substances, could have posed significant security risks if allowed into the market.
He noted that some of the drugs were imported without proper regulatory approval, such as a NAFDAC number, and others were falsely declared to evade duties, constituting smuggling.

Adeniyi commended the Apapa Command for its diligent work in this anti-smuggling operation and urged port users to engage in legitimate trade.
He emphasized the Customs Service’s commitment to thoroughly inspecting all imports and exports passing through the ports to prevent illegal activities.
