AGS NEWS – The 2024 Ecobank Fintech Challenge has announced 12 finalists, including Nigerian firms Sawport Video Banking and Sproutly Africa.
The announcement was made during the first semifinal event held at the Ecobank Pan African Centre in Lagos by Bolaji Lawal, Director/Regional Executive of Ecobank Nigeria, and Niyi Olagbami, Executive Director/Chief Risk Officer.
Other finalists include Buupass (Kenya), MiaPay (Togo), EasyEquities (South Africa), PaySika (Cameroon), Exuus (Rwanda), Daba Finance (Côte d’Ivoire), PROBOUTIK (Senegal), Melanin Kapital Neobank (Kenya), YMO Africa (Guinea), and VaultPay (Democratic Republic of Congo).

Ecobank Group CEO Jeremy Awori praised the finalists for their innovation and looked forward to the grand finale in September, where they will compete for a $50,000 prize and a spot in the Ecobank Fintech Fellowship programme.
The challenge, which began in 2017, received over 1,550 applications from 70 countries this year. The event is supported by various partners, including Huawei, Proparco, and Afrilabs.
