GTB confirms attempt to hack bank’s website

AGS NEWS – Guaranty Trust Bank Plc confirmed a hacking attempt on its website domain, just a day after renewing the domain name.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, temporarily disrupted the bank’s website, preventing customers from accessing online services and sparking concerns over potential data breaches.

In response, the bank issued a statement on Thursday, assuring customers that the attack was unsuccessful and that the website was not cloned.

The bank emphasized that customer data was not compromised, as it does not store such information on its website.

The bank’s Information Security team is actively working to restore domain settings.

GTBank reassured customers of its commitment to safeguarding their data and urged them to disregard misleading reports. The website has since been restored and is now fully operational.
