AGS NEWS – President Bola Tinubu has approved a new policy to address the ongoing migration of Nigerian doctors abroad.
Announced by the Health Minister, Prof Muhammad Pate, the National Policy on Health Workforce Migration aims to retain Nigerian-trained doctors and reverse the trend of healthcare professionals leaving the country.

The policy seeks to improve working conditions and training opportunities within Nigeria, while also negotiating with countries like the UK, where 67% of Nigerian-trained doctors currently practice, to assist in enhancing Nigeria’s healthcare training facilities.
While the policy has been met with cautious optimism, healthcare workers are awaiting further details on its implementation.
