AGS NEWS – The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a man suspected of vandalizing and stealing a streetlight pole in the New Artisan area.
The suspect, Aliyu Saad, was apprehended by officers from the New Haven Division on August 8, 2024, around 4:30 a.m., following a tip-off about the crime.
According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, Saad was arraigned in the Enugu North Magistrate Court on August 13, 2024, and has been remanded in custody pending further hearings.

This arrest aligns with the directive from the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, to crack down on criminals, especially those targeting public infrastructure.
The CP urged the police to maintain their efforts and called on citizens to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and report any criminal activities to the authorities.
The police provided distress hotlines and an email address for the public to use in reporting crimes.
