RCCG altar not for male pastors with braids, women with heavy makeup – Adeboye

AGS NEWS – Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, recently criticized clergymen with braided hair and clergywomen wearing false eyelashes and heavy makeup.

Speaking at the church’s annual convention, Adeboye declared that such trends would no longer be tolerated among the church’s workers.

He emphasized that in Yorubaland, men who braid their hair are traditionally priests of Sango, the god of thunder, and stated that such practices are not welcome in the church.

Adeboye also addressed female pastors who adopt heavy makeup, comparing their appearance to Nollywood actors, and warned that they would be removed from the altar if they continued.

The 82-year-old cleric further questioned the need for false nails and eyelashes, urging followers to embrace modesty and be content with their natural appearance.

He added that women who expose their bodies likely believe they are unattractive and need to draw attention away from their faces. Adeboye concluded by reassuring his female followers that they are “fearfully and wonderfully made,” and urged them to avoid altering their appearance to gain approval.
