36 states got N39.6bn as ecological funds – FG

AGS NEWS – Nigeria’s 36 states received N39.62bn in ecological fund allocations between June 2023 and June 2024, according to data from the Federation Account Allocation Committee published by the National Bureau of Statistics.

The ecological fund, established in 1981, is designed to address environmental issues like erosion, flooding, and desertification.

The funds are distributed based on the severity of these challenges, with Kano State receiving the highest allocation of N2.1bn.

Despite the fund’s intentions, concerns have been raised about transparency and effectiveness in its management, with experts calling for better oversight to ensure the funds reach the intended beneficiaries.
