AGS NEWS – The Edo State Government, in collaboration with the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), will begin metering around 500,000 homes in the state starting 13 August.
The initiative, aimed at tackling the issue of estimated billing, was announced by the Commissioner for Mining, Energy, Oil, and Gas, Enaholo Ojiefo, on Saturday.
After signing a Memorandum of Understanding with BEDC’s management, the commissioner revealed that the project would span all three senatorial districts.

Homes will receive government-subsidized meters covered by an insurance policy, with subscribers expected to receive their meters within 10 days of payment.
Subscribers can access the payment portal from 14 August, with assurances that meters will be delivered promptly.
BEDC’s Chairman of the Board, Kings Akuma, and Managing Director/CEO, Deolu Ijose, were present at the signing ceremony.
