Sanwo-Olu urges agro firms to reduce food prices

AGS NEWS – Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged agro-food companies to collaborate with the government to reduce food costs.

This call was made during a visit from Olam Agri Nigeria Ltd.’s senior management team, led by Managing Director Anil Nair, at the Lagos State House Marina.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of food security, noting recent hunger protests in Nigeria.

He expressed hope for a partnership that could announce a 25% reduction in food prices, highlighting Olam’s strategic role in the state’s economy.

Reflecting on his banking days, Sanwo-Olu praised Olam’s rapid growth and reliability.

He urged the company to leverage its longstanding relationship with Lagos and consider a partnership focused on sustainability and community support, even if it means reducing profit margins to make essential goods more affordable.

Nair acknowledged the administration’s efforts to empower citizens and address residents’ needs.
