Why Osimhen may remain at Napoli

AGS NEWS – Victor Osimhen is increasingly likely to remain at Napoli for another season due to complications in his potential transfer to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The Nigerian striker has been a target for a move away from Napoli this summer, but his €130m release clause has deterred Premier League clubs. PSG renewed their interest in Osimhen last week, and crucial negotiations were expected this week.

Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, was in Paris last week to negotiate with PSG, who were reportedly considering a player-plus-cash deal for the striker.

However, new reports from Italy suggest that Osimhen is now discussing his potential stay at Napoli with Antonio Conte following setbacks in his move to PSG.

Meanwhile, sources in France indicate that PSG is more focused on finding a replacement for Kylian Mbappe.

According to L’Equipe, PSG needs to sell either Gonçalo Ramos or Randal Kolo Muani before they can proceed with signing Osimhen. Both forwards are currently unwilling to leave PSG, causing negotiations for Osimhen’s transfer to stall.

Journalist Loic Tanzi reported on X (formerly Twitter) that talks between PSG and Napoli have “cooled down” because PSG must offload Ramos or Kolo Muani first.

Tanzi also mentioned that Osimhen has privately considered staying at Napoli for another season but needs to discuss this with Antonio Conte.

Conte previously stated that Osimhen is not in his plans for the next season, despite praising his attitude during pre-season training before excluding him from friendly matches.

Napoli still hopes to sell Osimhen, the reigning African Player of the Year, this summer. The funds from his transfer are essential for Napoli to sign Romelu Lukaku and find Osimhen’s replacement.
