JUST IN: Why Nigerians should support Dangote — Otedola

AGS NEWS – Billionaire business mogul, Femi Otedola, has called on the Nigerian government to support Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Group, by creating a conducive environment for business growth.

In a post on his X account on Tuesday, Otedola praised Dangote as a “titan created specially for mankind” and emphasized the importance of supporting local champions for national development and economic independence.

Otedola highlighted Dangote’s significant contributions, including the largest single-train refinery in Lagos, the second-largest sugar refinery, and the largest cement factory in the world.

He also noted Dangote’s major infrastructure projects and his role as the largest private sector employer and taxpayer in Nigeria.

Otedola drew parallels to how the US and other countries support their business leaders, urging Nigeria to do the same for Dangote.

He emphasized that supporting visionary leaders like Dangote is crucial for the country’s progress and economic stability.

This call for support comes amid recent controversies involving Dangote, including difficulties in obtaining crude oil for his refinery and regulatory issues.

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority stated that the Dangote refinery is still at the pre-commissioning stage and has not been licensed yet.

Dangote has offered to sell the refinery to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) to address allegations of monopoly.

He expressed his willingness to step aside if it would resolve the issue, stating, “Let them (NNPCL) buy me out and run the refinery the best way they can.”
