AGS NEWS – The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested Hashiru Baku, identified as the mastermind behind the murder of Brigadier General Harold Udokwere.
Udokwere, who was the National Chairman of the Retired Members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, was killed by armed robbers who invaded his residence on June 22, 2024, and stole his gun.
On June 24, 2024, the police arrested and paraded four suspects in connection with the crime: Ibrahim Rabiu, Nafiu Jamil, Aliyu Abdullahi, and Mohammed Nuhu.

Addressing journalists on Monday, FCT Commissioner of Police Bennett Igweh stated that Baku was apprehended in Kano State while attempting to flee the country. Igweh noted that Baku had previously escaped from the Kuje Correctional Centre.
“We have recovered the general’s gun, his wristwatch, and his wife’s jewelry, which were stolen from their home,” Igweh said. “Baku was in prison and escaped during the Kuje Correctional Centre attack. Instead of repenting, he continued his criminal activities.
We arrested him in Kano, where he was trying to leave the country. We also recovered drugs from his residence.”
