Two shot dead as bandits kidnap travellers in Ondo

AGS NEWS – Bandits killed two people and kidnapped five travelers along the Ifon/Owo Expressway in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State on Friday night.

The kidnappers, around 15 in number and armed with AK-47 rifles, stopped a Sienna bus at about 11 pm at Omi Alafa village.

They led the victims into the forest, shooting the driver and a female passenger in the front, while two other passengers managed to escape.

An eyewitness reported that the bus was traveling from Anambra State to Akure when the attack occurred.

“The bus was heading towards Akure when the bandits attacked at around 11 pm. They shot the driver and a woman in the front. Some passengers escaped, but others were taken away,” he said.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to a hospital morgue in Ifon, the local government headquarters.

Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Fumilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident, stating that the command could not yet determine the exact number of escaped victims.

She added, “Our men are on the ground, combing the forest to rescue the kidnapped victims.”
