AGS NEWS – Finnish boxer Robert Helenius has been banned for two years following a positive drug test for clomifene after his fight with Anthony Joshua last year.
The 40-year-old, who was 39 at the time of the bout, was knocked out at London’s O2 Arena in August 2023.
Despite Helenius claiming that the clomifene in his system came from eggs and chicken meat he consumed before the match, the UK Anti-Doping agency found he could not provide evidence to support this.

They stated on Friday that Helenius was “unable to identify the source of clomifene in his sample and therefore unable to reduce the applicable period of ineligibility of two years.”
The ban is effective from September 18, 2023, when Helenius was provisionally suspended, and he will be eligible to return to the sport after September 17, 2025.
