Flights suspended at Berlin airport due to IT issues

AGS NEWS – Flights at Berlin Brandenburg Airport in Germany were suspended on Friday morning due to a “technical problem,” a spokeswoman told AFP, amidst reports of widespread IT disturbances in several countries.

The spokeswoman mentioned that check-in and flight operations were delayed, with cancellations expected until 10:00 am (0800 GMT), but she could not specify when normal operations would resume.

A major IT outage also affected systems across Australia, impacting the national broadcaster, the largest international airport, and a significant telecommunications company.

This disruption, occurring just before the first weekend of the school holidays in Berlin, coincided with US tech giant Microsoft announcing “mitigation actions” following service issues.

In related news, the UK’s largest rail operator warned of potential train cancellations due to IT problems on Friday morning.

It was reported that several major US airlines, including Delta, United, and American Airlines, grounded all flights on Friday morning due to a communication issue, as stated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This ground stop affected all flights from these airlines, regardless of their destination.
