Benue can pay N70,000 minimum wage – Gov

AGS NEWS – The Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, has announced that his administration is prepared to pay a minimum wage of N70,000 to state workers.

During a conversation with journalists in Makurdi, the governor revealed that his administration has effectively blocked financial leakages.

Governor Alia emphasized that his administration is focused and has implemented measures to ensure smooth operations.

He stated, “Despite the harsh economic conditions, our plans and measures have started to yield results. Our internally generated revenue has increased.”

He further explained, “It’s now up to us to close all loopholes to generate enough funds for various needs, including salary payments.”

The governor assured, “We are committed to paying the minimum wage. With our focused approach and intent, we believe that what is agreed upon by the Federal Government should be implemented by state governments as well.”

Governor Alia also highlighted the importance of the workforce, stating, “Without civil servants, any government would lack direction.

Therefore, it is essential to pay our civil servants according to the approved minimum wage by the Federal Government and organized labour.”
