Over 6,500 federal workers fail promotion exams

AGS NEWS – According to information obtained by from the Federal Civil Service Commission on Wednesday, over 6,500 civil servants failed the 2023 Federal Civil Service Promotion Examinations.

Out of approximately 10,900 civil servants who took the examination across various states and the Federal Capital Territory, about 4,325 were recommended for promotion.

Last year, around 9,300 took the exam nationwide, with 1,600 participating in Abuja.

The Confirmatory Promotional Examination (COMPRO) is a requirement for career progression for administrative officers, foreign affairs officers, executive officers, police officers, paramilitary, and other professionals in the Federal Civil Service.

This exam is conducted by the Career Management Office of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

The analysis of the results showed that 201 civil servants were promoted to Chief Administrative Officer, 277 to Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, 269 to Principal Administrative Officer, and 167 to Senior Administrative Officer, among others.

The details were contained in a memo signed by the Director of Promotions, Sani Bello.

Preparations for the 2024 promotion examinations have already started.

In a memo dated July 2, 2024, the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation requested that eligible civil servants’ lists be submitted by July 31, 2024.

The memo, signed by Permanent Secretary Adeleye Adeoye, outlined the necessary documentation and submission procedures.
