Three arrested in Ogun for purchasing stolen transformer cables

AGS NEWS – The Ogun So-Safe Corps has apprehended three suspects for purchasing stolen transformer armored cables valued at N9.8 million in OPIC Estate, Agbara, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

In a statement by State Commander Soji Ganzallo, relayed through the Director of Information and Public Relations Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, the suspects—Mansirina Usman (27), Janadu Ahyarn (20), and Husseni Abdullahi (20)—were arrested on Thursday around 7 PM.

Ganzallo stated that the arrest was facilitated by the corps’ surveillance team, acting on a tip-off about the sale of stolen cables in the area.

The surveillance team was tasked with apprehending the thieves who had vandalized and stolen transformer cables worth N9.8 million.

The suspects confessed to buying the stolen cables from individuals identified as Mustapha and another person known as Minister, who remain at large.

Usman purchased 30kg of cable for N300,000, Ahyarn bought 25kg for N250,000, and Abdullahi acquired 20kg for N200,000.

Items recovered from the suspects included four off-cut armored cables, N18,850 in cash, three Android phones, two wristwatches, and two unmarked TVS motorcycles.

The suspects and recovered items have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Agbara Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and potential prosecution.

Ganzallo praised the surveillance team for their swift action and reiterated the corps’ commitment to combating crime in the state.
